English
Portfolio is the final book in the lower secondary level of your Pathway To
English series. It follows on from English Agenda , English Facifile, and
English Scrapbook and leads to the upper secondary textbooks in the same
series: English My love, Perspectives on English, English News and Views, and English Horizons .
In this book
you will find a lot of familiar features such as a wide range of stimulating
themes, texts and activities; exposure to the life styles and traditions of
other cultures; the development of knowledge and skills particular to other
subjects in your curriculum such as science, geography, art, etc.; and some
project work. All of this will help you develop your communication skills in
English and your cultural awareness .
There is
also plenty of revision material. Excerpts from authentic literary texts from British
and American Literature and from other parts of the English-speaking world are
the focus of Lesson 5 in every unit. We hope you'll enjoy reading these. You'll
also be encouraged to discuss some features of the literary excerpts to help
you prepare for the work you will have to do in the upper secondary grades.
As you may know,
there is an Activity Book linked to English Portfolio, with further exercise
material related to each unit. The Activity Book has an answer key to enable
you to use the book independently, and self-evaluation charts to help you
assess your own progress.
