Despre carte
Specialised Translation beyond Terms argues that while terminology is a visible aspect of field-specific texts, it is only one facet of a complex phenomenon. By covering aspects often overlooked in translation studies, it provides valuable insights into the complexities and challenges of specialised translation. The book adopts a text-based and applied approach, informed by text linguistics and the functionalist turn in translation studies, and uses a corpus of general-use IT texts translated from English into Romanian. The theoretical foundations laid in the initial chapters are explained and applied through detailed analyses and a wealth of examples in the last two chapters. Combining theory and practice, this book is a comprehensive resource for all those interested in the intricacies of field-specific translation, from scholars and professionals to trainers and students, offering practical insights and showcasing strategies that might enhance their understanding and skills in specialised translation..
